ABOUT MARQUISHA LU

Most of my artistic creations are inspired by socio-political interactions that take place around me and often relate to my perspectives of society and the world. I relish the opportunity to people-watch, and often find myself unconsciously eavesdropping and trying to learn about the lives of social circles distinct from mine. These observations naturally precipitate in a strong interest for the particular social issue, which leads me to contemplate them.

 

After much deliberation, I find that the issues that I typically resonate with concern deeper narratives about myself that were previously unknown, allowing me to find a personal voice in the project. At the same time, I push myself to research further into historical and cultural sources so as to reach an intricate understanding of the issue. This enables me to portray an accurate representation and occasionally even challenge the issues at hand.
